Where do we go?

Over the next 90-minutes, your Captain will take you on a wacky journey through the neighborhoods of San Francisco - Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, North Beach- Little Italy, South Beach, Union Square, SOMA -South of Market and China Basin.

Just when you thought the best was over, your Captain will drive you out of San Francisco and into the San Francisco Bay for a relaxing cruise on the water. Get your camera ready as you catch a spectacular view of the city skyline and Bay Bridge from the water!

History of the Ducks:

The DUKW, popularly called the DUCK, is a six-wheel-drive amphibious truck developed by the United States during World War 2 for transporting goods and troops over land and water and for use approaching and crossing beaches in amphibious attacks.

The DUKW was used in landings in the Pacific, in North Africa, and on D-Day on the beaches of Normandy. At Normandy alone, DUKW carried 18 million tons of supplies ashore in the 90 days after the landing. The enemy held all available ports.

The DUKW was developed by the National Defense Research Committee and the Office of Scientific Research and Development, but was originally rejected by the armed services. When a US Coast Guard patrol craft ran aground on a sandbar near Provincetown, Massachusetts, an experimental DUKW happened to be in the area
for a scheduled demonstration a few days later.

 

Winds up to 60 knots (110 km/h), rain, and heavy surf prevented conventional craft from rescuing the seven stranded coast guardsmen, but the DUKW had no trouble, and military opposition melted. Subsequently, DUKWs have proved their seaworthiness by crossing the English Channel and many other exploits at sea.

Bay Quackers 2008 Schedule:

• January - February: Thursday - Sunday at 10:00am, 12:00pm & 2:00pm

• March - December: Daily at 10:00am, 12:00pm 2:00pm & 4:00pm

Departure Point:

• The Duck Tours Booth at the Anchorage Mall @ The Fisherman's Wharf 2800 Leavenworth #16 Street (Beach & Jefferson) San Francisco, CA 94133. Guests should meet at this address 15 minutes prior to departure.

Parking:

• Metered parking is available at the Fisherman's Wharf area, however, we recommend that you park at one of the Garages. A number of Parking Garages are available along Beach Street (one or two blocks from where we are). They vary in rates, so please be sure to compare and park at the most cost effective one. Some Parking Garage charge about $12.00 for the whole day.

Additional Information:

• Tour concludes at the original departure point in Fisherman's Wharf.

• Life vests are provided for all passengers

• Duck Tour is not hanicapped accessible.

• Tour operates rain or shine. The Duck is covered and heated.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher:

This tour must be booked at least 24hrs in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12-24 hours subject to availability. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher. Print this voucher on you home/office printer and present SIGNED voucher at departure location. Only one voucher will be created per tour or activity for all travelers.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be placed 24 hours prior to event, cancellations within 24 hours are charged a per person $10.00 administrative fee. We charge 100% for No Shows.

Recommended for all tours in San Francisco: Comfortable shoes and a extra layer of warm clothing. Weather permitting. If seasonal fog obscures the view, tour route may be altered. Meals, Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.
