This is our most popular day tour. We have daily departures, meeting at 9:30 am leaving at 10 am.

The California wine country is blessed with an average temperature of 76 degrees and virtually no rain from April to November which makes this the perfect place for an outdoor adventure. Lots of sunshine, low humidity and cool nights.

Morning

We check you in at 9:30 AM. This gives you ample time to finish your delicious B&B breakfast or make the drive up from virtually anywhere in the Northern California region. We then fit you to a Cannondale Comfort bike along with a helmet, bag, and comfortable gel-seat. Your leader goes over the “Rules of the Road” as well as how to operate the bike. We're off on a guided tour at about 10:00 AM with your leader explaining the sights and some of the wine jargon / history. We travel the quiet country lanes to our first winery stop. After a tour of the grounds we taste the wine and then move along to our second winery where we often have a private barrel tasting. The support van is nearby for wine purchases or another bottle of water. We cycle along easy and flat roads to our third winery and our picnic spot.

Lunch with Getaway Adventures

Dining with Getaway is quite an event. First we pick a table under big shade oaks with a view of the valley. Next comes out the linen tablecloth, china and silverware. Fruit and bread baskets round out the setting; then the food! Typical is Pesto pasta salad, local organic salad greens, fresh baked bread, exotic cheeses, seasonal fruit, and dessert.

Afternoon

After our lunch we return to our bikes rested and recharged. We continue down the Silverado Trail. The Palisades Mountains on one side and the vines on the other frame our ride as we head for our next winery. We call this winery the “Shrine to Wine” for its superb collection of art and antiquities, as well as intriguing architecture and excellent wines. After a tasting, we return to Calistoga, arriving around 4pm. Here we bid you farewell and thank you for riding with us!

FROM SAN FRANCISCO / PENINSULA
North across the Golden Gate bridge; Continue past Santa Rosa; Exit Mark West Springs Rd. and turn go Right onto Mark West Springs Rd. About 10 miles down the road you will come to a T, turn Left on Petrified Forest Rd. At Hwy 128 turn Right. At the Stop sign with two gas stations on your left, turn Left onto Lincoln and go three blocks and turn Left onto Washington St. You will see the Sharpsteen Museum right past the Police Station on the left; you can either park in the parking lot or on the street.

FROM EAST BAY / CENTRAL VALLEY
North on Hwy 80 or 680 to Vallejo; take Hwy 37 at Marineworld to Hwy 29 towards Napa; Continue north on Hwy 29 past Napa and St. Helena to Calistoga. There will be a stop sign on Hwy 29 in Calistoga (the only stop sign on HWY 29) with two gas stations on your right. Turn Right at the stop sign, and go three blocks and turn Left onto Washington St. You will see the Sharpsteen Museum right past the Police Station on the left; you can either park in the parking lot or on the street.

FROM SACRAMENTO
Take Hwy 80 West; to Hwy 12 Jameson Cnyn Rd; Head north on Hwy 12 / 29 and take Hwy 29 North past Napa and St. Helena to Calistoga. There will be a stop sign on Hwy 29 in Calistoga (the only stop sign on HWY 29) with two gas stations on your right. Turn Right at the stop sign, and go three blocks and turn Left onto Washington St. You will see the Sharpsteen Museum right past the Police Station on the left; you can either park in the parking lot or on the street.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Cancellations within 72 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 72 hours are charged a minimum $25.00 per person administration fee. We charge for NO SHOWS. No Shows on tour dates are charged 100%. Some specific tours and activities have a higher cancellation fee due to the limited space available.

Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.
