Agriculture of Salinas Valley and resorts in Monterey. Pacific crashing on the cliffs at Big Sur. Mansions and a Castle of Dreams. Since 1924 California Parlor Car Tours has operated in this area, initially visiting the Missions along the Camino Real and then on the coast Route One where trains cannot go and driving is best left to locals who know. Well timed meal stops, essential sightseeing, tours, admissions and rooms are prearranged. One dinner with a choice from the menu, not pre-set. Breakfast is on your own at the hotel. Enjoy the afternoon and the evening at the Hyatt Regency Resort. Play golf, walk, ride bikes, go to the spa, go swimming or just relax. On Tuesday after the Hearst Castle tour you travel to San Luis Obispo to board the AMTRAK Coast Starlight coming through Salinas Valley and along San Andreas Fault to San Jose and Oakland. A short bus transfer will take you to San Francisco arriving around ten at night.

Leave San Francisco at 8:30 a.m., travel through Silicon Valley, San Jose and Gilroy to Salinas Valley. John Steinbeck grew up there and his writings are known all over the world. Visit the National Steinbeck Center Museum for about an hour.

visitors with an easy walk, a total of about 150 steps. Takes about 2 hours. Drive east via Highway One to San Luis Obispo arriving by 3:30.
AMTRAK to San Francisco. 263 miles. At 3:43 p.m. all aboard on Coast Starlight Train # 14 that left Los Angeles this morning on its way to Seattle. At Camp Roberts we enter Monterey county. Suddenly along the river there are oil fields giving way to miles and miles of newly planted vineyards where just a few years ago there was only cattle pasture. At King City along Salinas River we go by small towns, fields of lettuce, broccoli and acres of green houses arriving in Salinas at 6:36. Along the San Andreas fault line we go northwest through garlic country to Silicon Valley at San Jose.
©2006 Cal Parlor CarOn the eastern shores past marshlands of San Francisco Bay the train reaches Jack London Square in Oakland by 9:35. The thruway coach takes us across the Bay Bridge reaching San Francisco Ferry Building terminal by 10:10 p.m. Most down town hotels are about ten minutes by cab.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher
For every confirmed booking you will receive an e-mail with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher - when your booking is confirmed. Print you voucher from your home/office computer. Please present this E-Ticket voucher at the Tour Office.
Triple rates are for rooms with twin or double beds and a roll away, not suitable for three adults. Family of four including children can share a room with existing beds. Child Rate applies for children between ages of 5 through 11 sharing the room with an adult.
Cancellation Policy:
Up to 21 days before tour date the charge is $50 per person. 20 to 3 days prior tour date the charge is 50% of the tour cost. 2 days to 24 hours prior tour the charge is 75% of the tour cost. For No Show the charge is 100% of the tour cost. The refund is the amount paid minus the cancellation charge. If full payment is not received 30 days before travel date we may cancel the reservation and there will be no refund at all. Refunds are processed within three weeks of cancellation. If we cancel the tour at less than 28 days notice, and if we have received full payment, the refund is 110% of the tour cost. If you discontinue the tour, room costs may be refunded.
By Law tours are operated with authority from California Public Utilities Commission and the D.O.T. and other U.S. agencies. We act as agents for hotels, restaurants or other places of business and other transportation carriers in certain areas; we cannot be held liable in any way for loss, injury, or damage to person or property in those places or areas. We are liable only while you are traveling on motorcoaches operated by us. If there are any adverse conditions along the tour route, we reserve the right to bypass such areas. We may decline the sale of the tour or to retain any person as a member of the tour at any time.

This tour must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received withing 12-24 hours subject to availability.
Weather permitting. If seasonal fog or winter road closures / conditions are present the route may be altered.
Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.
California Parlor Car Tours assumes no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdown, bad conditions of the road and other conditions beyond control, in addition to insufficient numbers.
Buses are air conditioned and the size of the bus depends on the number of passengers booked for that particular day.
