This independent tour is made possible by taking motor coach tour from San Francisco to Monterey, spending a night there and then AMTRAK train connection to Los Angeles, Anaheim or San Diego. The motor coach tour may be operated by California Parlor Car Tours, Tower Tours or by Super Sightseeing Tours.

Tour includes: Deluxe narrated day tour and transportation to Monterey. Hotel room with tax. 17 Mile Drive entrance AMTRAK throughway transfer to Salinas. Train tickets to Los Angeles.

Tour Schedule

Day 1
San Francisco to Monterey, 154 miles

Pick up from any downtown hotel. Departure at 9:00 a.m. Travel about two hours through Silicon Valley, San Jose then along San Andreas fault-line through Gilroy. See acres of artichoke and strawberry fields.

Spend the rest of the day in historic Monterey, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove. See the Pacific crashing on to the rocks and swirling around on the 17 Mile Drive, where the Lone Cypress stands guard. Brush with luxury at the golf courses and resorts of Pebble Beach. Time in Carmel by the Sea for shopping & browsing. By 5:00 p.m. we should check in at Hyatt Regency Monterey.

Day 2
Monterey to Salinas and Los Angeles. 375 miles.

After a relaxing morning, at 10:55 AMTRAK Thruway motor coach will transfer you via Laguna Seca to Salinas Train Station. This takes about 30 minutes.

AMTRAK Train #11 that started in Seattle the day before now takes us through the Salinas Valley, center of Monterey Country's agricultural region. The route takes us by Salinas River through small towns, fields of lettuce, broccoli and acres of green houses. Suddenly by King City we see miles and miles of newly planted vineyards where just a few years ago there was only cattle pasture. The oil fields appear and then the military installations at Camp Roberts.
Soon we reach historic Paso Robles. Leaving the level areas we now climb Cuesta Grade and drop down to sea level at San Luis Obispo. The ocean briefly appears at Pismo Beach. Heading south the rails go by Vandenberg Space station and near Goleta you see some of the most scenic ocean views all the way through Santa Barbara to Oxnard.

Turning inland in early evening the train goes past miles of orange groves then through Fillmore and Simi Valley to Glendale and the great metropolis of Los Angeles. It is now about 9:00 p.m. as we arrive at the in the heart of Los Angeles at the Union Station that you may recognize from many Hollywood films.
If you are staying in Los Angeles taxicabs to downtown locations cost about $20, twice as much to Hollywood, West Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills or to Los Angeles International Airport.

If you going further south the train connects to Surfliner #794 at 10:05 that arrives in Anaheim at 10:51, San Juan Capistrano at 11:25 and San Diego well past midnight at 12:50.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher

For every confirmed booking you will receive an e-mail with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher - when your booking is confirmed. Print you voucher from your home/office computer. Please present this E-Ticket voucher at the Tour Office.

Triple rates are for rooms with twin or double beds and a roll away, not suitable for three adults. Family of four including children can share a room with existing beds. Child Rate applies for children between ages of 5 through 11 sharing the room with an adult.

Cancellation Policy:

Up to 21 days before tour date the charge is $50 per person. 20 to 3 days prior tour date the charge is 50% of the tour cost. 2 days to 24 hours prior tour the charge is 75% of the tour cost. For No Show the charge is 100% of the tour cost. The refund is the amount paid minus the cancellation charge. Refunds are processed within three weeks of cancellation. If we cancel the tour at less than 28 days notice, and if we have received full payment, the refund is 110% of the tour cost. If you discontinue the tour, room costs may be refunded.

By Law tours are operated with authority from California Public Utilities Commission and the D.O.T. and other U.S. agencies. We act as agents for hotels, restaurants or other places of business and other transportation carriers in certain areas; we cannot be held liable in any way for loss, injury, or damage to person or property in those places or areas. We are liable only while you are traveling on motorcoaches operated by us. If there are any adverse conditions along the tour route, we reserve the right to bypass such areas. We may decline the sale of the tour or to retain any person as a member of the tour at any time.

Two Day Monterey Sea and Land Tour

This tour must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received withing 12-24 hours subject to availability.

Weather permitting. If seasonal fog or winter road closures / conditions are present the route may be altered.

Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.

California Parlor Car Tours assumes no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdown, bad conditions of the road and other conditions beyond control, in addition to insufficient numbers.

Buses are air conditioned and the size of the bus depends on the number of passengers booked for that particular day.
